Chennai, September 4, 2018: Prof  M S Swaminathan, Founder, M S Swaminathan Research Foundation, condoles the passing away of Dr Prakash Shetty, former CEO of the Leveraging Agriculture for Nutrition in South Asia (LANSA) project of MSSRF. Dr Shetty provided vision, leadership and strategic direction to LANSA. He oversaw research,capacity strengthening, communications, finance and monitoring and evaluation of the programme.

Prof Swaminathan expressed his condolences to Dr Shetty’s wife.

Dear Mrs Prakash Shetty,

It is with very great sorrow that we received the news about the demise of your dear husband. Because of his wonderful human, personal and professional qualities, he earned the respect and love of a wide range of scientists and scholars. To me he has been a personal friend and mentor. His contributions to the multi-national project LANSA are truly monumental. He has paved the way for a malnutrition free South Asia and for integrating agriculture, nutrition and health.

We will miss his wise guidance and smiling face. To you and your family, the loss is a deeply personal one. We share your sorrow and pray for the peace of the departed soul. We will be having a condolence meeting at our Foundation to pay our respect and express our admiration to him. If there is anything we can do to help you in this hour of grief, please do let me know. It will be a pleasure to be of help in reducing suffering.
