Training for government promoted Women Self Help Groups by MSSRF
Puducherry, Jan 23, 2018: In a unique effort, Biovillage Resource centre, MSSRF has started giving livelihoods training and exposure visits to government promoted Women’s Self Help Groups (SHGs) in Puducherry for their economic empowerment. The training is for on-farm and off-farm livelihoods such as wetland Integrated Farming System model, Japanese quill rearing, Backyard poultry hatchery unit, Kitchen garden, Vermicompost production, Azolla and Co4 fodder cultivation.
The trainings were initiated after the visit of the Assistant Collector of Revenue Shri. Devansh Yadav, IAS, along with Villianur BDO officials, Junior Engineer and Grama Sevaks on 19th January 2018. He had interaction with staffs and executive committee members of Innuyir Grama Sangam – a federation promoted by MSSRF, on livelihood intervention, process, content, resources and infrastructure availability, monitoring and marketing arrangement.
Three trainings have been conducted with 100 SHG members and further five more trainings are expected to be conducted over the next few weeks reaching out to 150 women members and Panchayat Level Federation leaders from the SHGs. This is yet another example of MSSRF working closely with Government stakeholders for sustainable development.
