Talk: ‘Agrobiodiversity and Our Natural Heritage: Honoring Dr MS Swaminathan’
Speaking at M.S. Swaminathan Centenary Lecture Series at MSSRF, Prof Bawa from ATREE noted that the India@2047 vision could be made possible with rapid increase of the country’s natural capital to over $2 Trillion every year. His talk covered the length and breadth of agrobiodiversity while tracing complex socio-environmental challenges and future action points for sustainable environmental impacts and long-term food security in India. Prof Bawa recalled his more than 50-year association with Dr MS Swaminathan, and paid homage to his memory by reflecting on the concepts of biological conservation and restoration.
