A multi-location audio conference for using voice handle software, was organised at Pudukottai and Thiruvaiyaru Village Resource Centres (VRCs) January 30. The programme aimed to provide solutions to farmers’ queries and promote farmer-to-farmer learning through cross-learning opportunities.
The farmers clarified questions related to various crops, such as Paddy, Black gram, Green gram, and Gingelly. Issues with pests like brown plant hoppers, false smut, and ear head bugs in paddy were prominent given the crop’s panicle maturity and grain formation stage. Additionally, early-sown farmers had inquiries about Aphids damage in Black gram, Green gram, and Cowpea. They also need information about the varieties of Black gram, Green gram and Sesame.
Agriculture scientists from MSSRF – Senthilkumar and Sudhakar, provided appropriate solutions to queries raised by farmers, and addressed concerns about pests and disease management, crop selection, etc.
A total of 93 farmers participated, including 61 women from 11 villages. The digital platform proved to be an effective means of connecting experts with farmers, facilitating real-time interactions and knowledge-sharing.
