Dr Bhomia is an accomplished environmental scientist with over two decades of transdisciplinary research and applied experience in tropical wetlands, biogeochemistry, and climate resilience. He holds a Ph.D. in Soil and Water Sciences from the University of Florida and dual Master’s degrees from the University of Oxford and Jawaharlal Nehru University. He has published over 23 peer-reviewed journal articles, numerous technical reports and book chapters on wetland nutrient cycling, mangrove and peatland carbon dynamics, and restoration science. He has secured and led project grants from USFS, USAID and FAO towards blue carbon ecosystem monitoring in India, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives. His work integrates field-based research, science-policy engagement, and capacity development across more than a dozen countries in Asia, Africa, and the Americas.
