Overview of the Programme

Climate change is one of the greatest challenges that humanity faces in the 21st century. Although there has been progress in understanding of climate change there still remain many scientific, technical, institutional impediments to respond to the challenges of climate change. MSSRF do understand that climate change is a highly complex and warrants urgent attention. However, addressing climate change requires pragmatic approach and a wide range of preparedness measures can be implemented to face such a threat. MSSRF committed to addressing the challenges of climate change. It emphasizes the importance of both anticipatory research and action to address issues relating to climate change. At the same time, MSSRF also accentuate that there is a need for participatory research with vulnerable communities, particularly in rural India, in order to enhance their capacity to deal with climate change induced calamities like drought, flood, increasing temperature, sea level rise, etc.
