MSSRF has been invited to be a resource agency for the Agriculture Department Staff in Odisha, for sharing knowledge related to improved agriculture technologies. This was suggested by Mr Manoj Ahuja IAS and Principal Secretary to the Govt. of Odisha. The suggestion came after a visit to MSSRF’s regional centre in Jeypore, Koraput District.
Dr. Ch. Ravinder Reddy, Director MSSRF Jeypore, explained the overall activities being conducted there, especially the extra short duration pigeon pea and in collaboration with ICRISAT and Village Knowledge Centres (VKCs). Mr Ahuja also suggested a joint partnership with MSSRF for improved agronomic practices through demonstrations in 1000 ha in Koraput district.
A number of dignitaries visit MSSRF and its regional centres all through the year to learn about its activities.
In November 2016, Shri Rangalal Jamunda IAS (Retd.), Chairperson of Odisha State Food Commission, visited with Shri Raj Kishore Mishra, State Advisor to Commissioners, Supreme Court of India and District Civil Supply Department officials. The team appreciated the importance of the interventions for food and nutrition security, as malnutrition and hidden hunger were twin problems in Odisha.
