Chennai, August 05, 2017: How do we bring nutrition through agriculture practices? This is the theme of the Regional Consultation on ‘Farming System for Nutrition’ which will be held from August 7-9 at M S Swaminathan Research Foundation, Chennai, supported by the Tata Trusts.

Shri Krishna Byregowda, Honorable Minister for Agriculture, Government of Karnataka will inaugurate the programme. Dr Maria Andrade, International Potato Centre, Mozambique, World Food Prize winner for 2016,  Dr Purvi Mehta Bhatt, from the Gates Foundation and Dr Trilochan Mohapatra, and Dr S K Pattanaik, Secretaries to the Government of India,  will speak at the consultation. Prof M S Swaminathan Founder MSSRF will deliver the inaugural address. A book that details this concept will be released on the occasion.

The Regional Consultation will bring scientists, researchers and representatives from government and development organizations; farmers and experts from across the globe and within India. Farming System for Nutrition involves use of agricultural remedies for addressing malnutrition among the local community.
