The objective of the Farmers’ Field Day is to help farmers learn successful farming technologies and techniques, as well as gain practical information from agricultural experts, fellow farmers and research organisations so that they can use such knowledge to enhance their own agri-operations. The occasion also provides opportunity to exchange learnings between farmers.
Three block-level events on crop-cutting experiments were organised by MSSRF the under Comprehensive Rice Fallow Management Programme in Kurumundali Village (Barasahi Gram Panchayat) Odagaon Block, Sahaspur Village (Salajaharia GP) Khandapada Block, and Goudachancharapalli Village (Sikrida GP) Nuagaon Block on April 4, 5 and 6 respectively.
For all the events, the respective Block Agriculture Officer, Agriculture Overseer, local VAW and PRI members along with farmers participated. A total of 339 participants attended the block-level events.
The farmers were also able to witness practical farming techniques, which can be applied to improve yields and economic returns, as well as nutrition security and economic growth in a broader economic sense.
Overall the farmer-events were successfully conducted and the interventions received appreciation from the farmers, staff of government departments and PRI members. There was request that MSSRF must continue such events for the Rabi season as well.
