Networking and Training Programmes
  • Awareness on Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers' Rights Act 2001 and the Biological Diversity Act 2002.
  • Awareness and training on formal method of Land Race cultivation and conservation for the betterment of livelihood. One of the important areas that require intensive training is on modified method of cultivation. Training workshops on modified method of cultivation notably proper nursery raising, selection of seeds before sowing, roughing, panicle selection from the standing crop, Integrated Pest Management, water management.
  • Training and encouraging people to learn more about non-farm livelihoods as a source of additional household income and nutritional status. These include involvement of members of women SHGs collectively going for mushroom cultivation, vegetable cultivation, vermicompost production, leaf plate stitching, pisciculture, etc.
  • Assisting people in knowledge empowerment through Village Knowledge Center PRI members were given orientation training on Village Knowledge Center.
  • Facilitating people in formation of people's institutions for future sustainability Village Grain and Seed Banks managed by locally selected committees to ensure quality seeds for cultivation and grains for consumption during needs are successfully operating in the villages. Intermittent Training is given in Record Keeping and maintaining, as tribals are mostly illiterate. Executive body meeting of Panchabati Gramya Unnayan Samiti was organized to take decisions on the operationalization of Biodiversity conservation work. Executive Body members of Kalinga Kalajeera Growers' Cooperative Society were trained on record keeping, weighing and market promotion of Kalajeera.
  • Through Training programmes PRI members, farmers, teachers, students are being sensitized on the two Biodiversity related laws.
  • Networking with other NGOs working on Biodiversity, PRI members responsible for developmental programmes, farmers and State Government Officials are being extending and expanding over the years.
